TRAINS HATE TRAFFIC TOO.

The same commute, every time.

No traffic. No crazy drivers. No bull.

LIGHT RAIL HELPS US ALL.

Light Rail Expansion in Hampton Roads could amplify our region’s economy, reduce parking congestion, reduce traffic times, and connect our region in ways we’ve never seen.

From seaport to airport, oceanfront to storefront. Light Rail can get us there, the same time, every time.

RAIL belongs HERE.

Virginia Beach paid more than $40M for the right-of-way to build out The Tide to the Oceanfront.

The passage is currently home to abandoned freight tracks.

It would have served areas near Lynnhaven Mall, Oceana Base, Town Center, and more—connecting our military, residents, tourists, all while slashing traffic times along I-264.

The city is actively looking to build out a mixed-use bike path along the corridor instead.

BUSES CAN’T KEEP UP.

While Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) offers a competitive, cheap-to-deploy solution to mass transit in Hampton Roads, these systems struggle to keep up with or garner demand, and end up costing more in the long run.

BRT requires heavier staffing, it’s harder to expand, and it causes road damage that needs to be continually repaired. Buses also take up more road space, and their commute relies on traffic.

Light Rail has the same commute, every time, and it requires less maintenance and staffing overall than BRT. Light Rail also tends to attract would-be drivers, reducing strain on our road network.

bILL HJ26. OFF THE TABLE.

Introduced by Del. Askew, the bill aims to give Virginia Beach the capacity to study light rail extension to the Oceanfront. The bill currently sits tabled, with pushback from city officials surrounding light rail.

You can make a difference. Use your voice. Ride The Tide.
